
P-Bruins Fall to Devils, Remain in First Place

Lowell, MA - The Providence Bruins remain in first place in the Atlantic Division despite falling to the Lowell Devils 8-1 Saturday evening at the Tsongas Arena. The P-Bruins got their lone goal from Jeremy Reich. The first place P-Bruins are back at home at the Dunkin' Donuts Center Friday, January 2 versus the Hershey Bears at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night.
The Devils took a 1-0 advantage at the 2:04 mark of the opening period, while on the power play. Jon DiSalvatore netted his seventh goal of the season, with Chad Wiseman and Petr Vrana recording the assists. Lowell went up 2-0 at the 7:06 mark. DiSalvatore tallied his second goal of the game, eighth of the season, while Vladimir Zharkov and Vrana picked up the assists. Lowell scored at the 9:08 mark to make it 3-0. Wiseman scored his eighth goal of the season with Pascal Rheaume getting the lone assist. While back on the power play, the Devils netted their fourth goal of the game at the 11:30 mark. Vrana grabbed his second goal of the season with Tyler Eckford recording the lone assist. Lowell finished off the first period scoring at the 11:46 mark. Barry Tallackson netted his second goal of the season with Brad Mills and Pierre-Luc Leblond coming up with the assists. The Devils went into the first intermission with a 5-0 lead.
In the second period, the P-Bruins got on the scoreboard at the 16:24 mark. Wacey Rabbit had the puck in the right face off circle and sent it to Jeff Penner at the right point. Penner took a shot and Reich was in front of the crease to redirect the puck into the net for his eighth goal of the season. The Devils went into the second intermission leading 5-1.
In the third period, the Devils went ahead 6-1 at the 1:32 mark while on the power play. Anssi Salmela grabbed his fourth goal of the season with Eckford and Wiseman getting the assists. The Devils added another power play goal at the 5:39 mark. DiSalvatore netted his third goal of the evening with Salmela and Eckford getting the assists. The Devils finished the scored with a shorthanded goal at the 16:32 mark. Tallackson tallied his third goal of the season with DiSalvatore picking up the lone assist.
Tuukka Rask stopped 27 of 33 shots and Kevin Regan made one save for the P-Bruins, while Jeff Frazee made 32 saves for the Devils. The P-Bruins were 0-for-5 on the power play and 1-for-5 on the penalty kill.
The first place P-Bruins return to action Wednesday at the Verizon Wireless Arena against the Manchester Monarchs at 7:00 p.m. Providence returns home to The Dunk Friday versus the Hershey Bears at 7:05 p.m. for Kid's Hat Night. The P-Bruins are also home at The Dunk Sunday, January 4 against the Houston Aeros at 4:05 p.m. for a Family Game. Purchase one ticket, hot dog and soda for one low price.
