Rampage Take 1-0 Overtime Win over Wild
March 27, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
San Antonio Rampage News Release
DES MOINES - Brett Olson scored just 15 seconds into overtime to give the San Antonio Rampage (41-20-5-1) a 1-0 victory over the Iowa Wild (21-41-2-2) in front of 6,547 at Wells Fargo Arena Friday. With the win, the Rampage tie a franchise high seven-game win streak and maintain a first place standing in the Western Conference.
Just like the last meeting between the two teams on March 7, the Rampage and Wild were scoreless through two periods. Neither team could light the lamp in the final 20 minutes and for the fourth time in their last five games, the Rampage needed overtime for a game decision.
Olson sealed the 1-0 win for San Antonio, taking a pass from Shane O'Brien and putting the puck past John Curry.
Michael Houser stopped all 26 shots from Iowa for his second shutout of the season. Houser is 9-1-1 over his last 12 starts and with a season-high six straight wins, holds the franchise record for consecutive wins in a season along with Dan Ellis, who reached the milestone earlier this season.
KEY STAT
The Rampage tied a franchise record of 20 single season road victories and are now just one win away from setting a new franchise win streak at eight games.
San Antonio totaled just two penalty minutes the entire game for just the second time this season. The Rampage have only had one game in franchise history in which they were not assessed a single penalty minute.
All but three skaters for the Silver and Black recorded a shot, outshooting their opponent for the 45th time this year.
LINEUP NOTES
John McFarland, Olson and Bobby Butler skated as the top Rampage line, and Wade Megan was back in the lineup as part of a fourth line with Garrett Wilson out with a minor injury.
UP NEXT
The Rampage play the Wild for the final time this season tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. at Wells Fargo Arena. They return home on April 2 to take on the Adirondack Flames in a MIX 96.1 $1 drink night at the AT&T Center. Individual and season tickets can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
