San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO - The San Antonio Rampage announced today that their military-themed jerseys raised $17,950 in an auction after their 4th Annual Military Appreciation Night game last Friday (Feb. 23).

The proceeds from the specially designed military jerseys surpassed their $15,000 goal. The net proceeds will benefit San Antonio's military community, specifically the Fisher House, the Fort Sam Houston Soldier and Family Assistance Center and Operation Comfort.

Army Spc. Josh Stein's jersey generated the highest bid with $925 of all 25 auctioned jerseys, while left wing Ryan Flinn's jersey bid of $900 garnered the highest amount from the Rampage side. The average jersey price was $654.

A special highlight of Rampage Military Appreciation Night included an exhibition game immediately following the game featuring the Rampage Sled Hockey Team. The Sled Hockey Team is comprised primarily of soldiers recovering from life-altering war wounds at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). A total of five players, half of the sled-hockey team, wore the same commemorative jerseys as the Rampage that night. The Sled Hockey Team is a joint effort between the Rampage, Operation Comfort and the San Antonio Parks and Recreation Department. The team is coached by Lonnie Hannah, a former member of the U.S. Paralympics Sled Hockey Team that won the Bronze medal at the 2006 Games in Turino, Italy, and a Gold medal at the 2002 Games in Salt Lake City.

Military Appreciation Night produced the largest fan turnout all season with 6,605 in attendance to witness the Rampage record a 4-2 win over the Western Conference-leading Chicago Wolves.

The Rampage have three more jersey auctions slated for this year including Salute to the Badges Night Mar. 16, Boy Scout Night Mar. 24, and Spurs Night Mar. 31.
