
Wolves Add Dimitrakos

The Chicago Wolves have acquired right wing NIKO DIMITRAKOS (NEEK-Oh DIH-mih-tra-kohs) on loan from the National Hockey League's Philadelphia Flyers in exchange for center JARED ROSS.
DIMITRAKOS has appeared in 158 career regular-season NHL games, collecting 24 goals, 62 points and 95 penalty minutes with the San Jose Sharks (2002-2005) and Philadelphia Flyers (2005-2007). The 27-year-old forward has accrued six penalty minutes in five outings with the Flyers and has notched 28 points (15G, 13A) and 34 penalty minutes in 45 matchups with the American Hockey League's Philadelphia Phantoms this season.
"Niko is someone who has NHL playoff experience and will be an invaluable addition to our roster at this pivotal stage in our season," Wolves General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff said.
The Somerville, Mass., native has suited up in 20 career Stanley Cup Playoff matchups, posting eight assists and nine points, all of which were collected in 15 outings with San Jose during its run to the Western Conference Finals in 2004.
DIMITRAKOS' 15 goals and 28 points rank second on the Phantoms this season. Overall, he has accumulated 34 markers, 46 assists, 80 points and 68 penalty minutes in 107 career AHL contests with the Cleveland Barons (2002-2004) and Phantoms.
San Jose's fourth pick, 155th overall, in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft, DIMITRAKOS played four seasons for the University of Maine (Hockey East), accruing 50 goals, 80 assists, 130 points and 134 penalty minutes in 139 games spanning four seasons (1998-2002). During his freshman year, he was a member of the Black Bears' 1999 NCAA Championship squad.
ROSS has accrued 35 assists and 42 points in 103 career AHL games over two seasons with the Wolves (2005-2007), which includes has recording seven goals and 15 points in 41 outings this season.
In accordance with team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
