
Rampage Sled Hockey Team Wins National Championship

SAN ANTONIO (April 14, 2014) - The San Antonio Rampage Sled Hockey Team captured its first national championship at the 2014 Sled Hockey National Tournament, beating the St. Louis Blues Sled Team 3-1 in the title game on Sunday.
Josh Sweeney finished with a tournament-high 13 points, including a hat trick in the team's 3-0 win over the Buffalo Sabres in the semifinals. He also assisted on all three goals in the championship, each of which were scored by Rico Roman. Luke McDermott's seven assists led all skaters in the tournament.
Roman, Sweeney and goalie Jen Lee were also part of the U.S. National Sled Hockey Team that captured the gold medal at the 2014 Paralympic Winter Games in Sochi. Sweeney scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Russia in the gold-medal game.
A special on-ice ceremony will recognize the Rampage Sled Hockey Team as well as the three Paralympic gold medalists when the San Antonio Rampage host the Abbotsford Heat on Thursday night at 7 p.m. at the AT&T Center. The Rampage Sled Hockey team will sign autographs during the game and fans can take photos with Josh Sweeney, Rico Roman and Jen Lee with their Paralympic gold medals.
