Today's Game: Tonight's inter-divisional contest against the Edmonton Road Runners marks the conclusion of the first road trip of the season for the San Antonio Rampage for the 2004-05 season...San Antonio sits atop (tied) their Division with four points (2-1-0-0 record) and is T-3rd with four other teams, including Edmonton (2-1-0-0), in the Western Conference...Tonight's contest is the fourth of nine contests in the month of October...Last season, the San Antonio finished the regular season with a 30-42-8-0 record (68 pts.), finishing sixth in the Western Conference...The Road Runners (formerly from Toronto) finished fifth in the North Division with a 35-34-8-3 record (81 pts.).

Against Edmonton Road Runners: Tonight's match-up concludes a two-game series between the two clubs, while marking the only visit the Rampage make to the Rexall Place for the 2004-05 season...Tonight's contest is second of four meetings between the two clubs...On Monday, the Road Runners defeated the Rampage, 4-3, in the first match-up ever between the two former expansion clubs...Prior to Monday night, San Antonio had only faced one other Canadian team (Manitoba) in their lifetime, posting a 3-2-3-0 record against the Moose...Last season, the Rampage were 13-24-3-0 on the road, while compiling a 66-71-19-0 lifetime road record in two seasons.

VIEW TO A (PENALTY) KILL: The Rampage have allowed only one power-play goal so far in the early season, but teams should note that last year Steve Ludzik spearheaded the Florida Panthers' penalty kill unit which finished 2nd in the NHL (86.4%) behind Detroit (86.8).

In fact, five first-round NHL draft picks are among the opening night squad, including Jay Bouwmeester, Patrick DesRochers, Lukas Krajicek, Petr Taticek and Stephen Weiss. Four players were second-round NHL draft picks, including Rob Globke, Kamil Kreps, Filip Novak and Victor Uchevatov.

YOUNG AND RESTLESS: On Oct. 13, all 28 teams submitted their respective rosters totaling 677 players and averaging 23 years and 8 months—which was 10 months younger than last year. San Antonio was ranked as the fifth youngest averaging 23 years and 4 months on Opening Night, with Kamil Kreps registering as the youngest Rampage player who will turn 20 on Nov. 18.

BOUWMEESTER HELPS TEAM CANADA WIN WORLD CUP: On Sept. 14, Jay Bouwmeester helped Team Canada capture the 2004 World Cup of Hockey, defeating Team Finland, 3-2. The 21-year-old appeared in four games, recording zero points a registering a plus-3.

PAY-ING TIME: Rampage center Serge Payer played in his 200th AHL game Monday night against the Road Runners.

FAMILIAR FACE: This will be Rocky Thompson's first two-game series against the Rampage since playing for San Antonio during the 2002-03 inaugural season.

Greg Jacina and Paul Healey knotted the score in the first and second periods respectively before the Road Runners pushed ahead with a pair of goals in the final frame within a 1:09 span...Brad Winchester's second goal of the game at 6:29 in the third period proved to be the game winner as the Rampage's Serge Payer scored with 1:58 remaining in regulation to bring the 4-3 outcome...Edmonton's Tyler Moss saved 19 of 22 shots to earn the victory, while Patrick DesRochers allowed four goals on 29 shots in the defeat.
