October 20, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Worcester IceCats News Release
WORCESTER, MA--- For a second straight season, the Worcester IceCats, in partnership with 104.5 WXLO, will sell Pink Hockey Pucks to benefit the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation Massachusetts Affiliate. The campaign officially kicks off tomorrow (Thursday) at 6:00 AM on WXLO, as morning show hosts Zito and Jen will launch Steve Donovan up into a hot air balloon. Donovan will be on location at the Holy Cross baseball field, adjacent to I-290.
Donovan will broadcast live from the airborne balloon until the morning show reaches a goal of selling 3,135 pink hockey pucks. The target number of pucks is derived from a similar collaboration in November of last year when the âCats and WXLO set and reached a goal of 1,045 pucks. This year, the two community conscious groups are trying to triple the objective.
The special pink pucks are only 10 dollars each. They feature an IceCats logo, a pink ribbon and the text October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The flip side features WXLO and the benefactor.
Donors may call the special WXLO pledge line at 508-373-1045 or visit Donovan at the College of the Holy Cross to purchase the limited-edition Pink Pucks. Any group or company that purchases 50 or more pucks will have them personally delivered by IceCats mascot Scratch.
The Susan G. Komen Foundation is committed to people making a difference. People who are dedicated to fighting breast cancer head-on by doing all that they can to eradicate this disease. The IceCats and WXLO are once again pleased to join that fight.
