ONTARIO, CA - Jordan Nolan notched San Antonio's third power play goal of the game late in the third period on Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena, the eventual game-winner as the Rampage (25-23-5) earned a 4-2 win over the Ontario Reign (16-25-7).
Jordan Kyrou recorded a three-point game with a goal and two assists, and Jakub Jerabek notched a goal and an assist on the power play. Jared Coreau earned the win with 38 saves.
With 1:37 left in regulation in a 2-2 game, Reign forward Philippe Maillet was whistled for hooking after pulling down Ryan Olsen in front of the Ontario net. Eight seconds into the ensuing power play, Kyrou fed Jerabek at the bottom of the right circle and Jerabek quickly slid a pass to the front for Nolan's 12th goal of the season and a 3-2 Rampage lead.
Bobby MacIntyre scored into an empty net with 22 seconds remaining for his fifth goal of the season to make it 4-2 Rampage.
San Antonio struck first at 16:01 of the first period. Mitch Reinke's power play point shot was blocked, but bounced to Jerabek in the left circle for a shot past Reign goaltender Cal Petersen and his sixth goal of the season. Just 1:04 later on another power play, Kyrou beat Petersen with a low wrist shot from the top of the left circle to make it 2-0 with his 14th goal of the year.
The Reign drew even with two goals in the third period, both from Kale Clague. At 9:07 Clague beat Coreau with a drive from the right point for his fourth of the season, a power play goal to make it 2-1. At 13:27, Clague fired a one-timer from the left circle off a feed from Sheldon Rempal for his second goal to tie the score.
The Rampage launched 52 shots on goal, their most in a game this season. The victory improved their record to 2-2-3 on the Rodeo Road Trip, the Rampage claiming seven of an available 14 points thus far.
With two assists, Reinke moved to within one point of the Rampage single-season record for points by a rookie defenseman. Keith Yandle posted 34 points in 69 games during the 2006-07 season. Reinke's 33 points are tied for the league-lead among AHL rookie defensemen this season.
The Rampage return to action on Saturday night when they visit Pechanga Arena to face the San Diego Gulls. Puck-drop is scheduled for 9 p.m. CT, with the game available on the Ticket 760AM and on AHLTV.
