San Antonio Rampage News Release

SAN ANTONIO (March 30, 2014) - The San Antonio Rampage (27-31-3-6) got a combined two goals and an assist from defensemen Matt Gilroy and John Lee, but fell to the Hamilton Bulldogs (30-33-1-4) 4-3 on Sunday in front of a crowd of 6,180 at the AT&T Center.

Gilroy scored a power play goal, his second tally in as many games, in the second period. Lee, who was playing in his 100th professional game, notched a shorthanded marker late in the third period to tie the game at three, but Hamilton's Greg Pateryn scored with 50.9 seconds left to deal the Rampage its second straight loss.

Wade Megan earned a secondary assist on Gilroy's tally, extending his point streak to three games (3g-1a), and now has six points (4g-2a) in his last five games.

San Antonio opened the scoring late in the first period with a Joey Crabb cannon from the point that beat Robert Mayer at 17:59. It was Crabb's 13th tally of the season and first since being reassigned from Florida on March 26.

Hamilton answered early in the second. Nathan Beaulieu sent a shot in from the point and Louis Leblanc was planted on the crease to punch in the rebound at 2:32.

The Rampage took the lead once again as Gilroy scored his ninth of the season with a blast from the right point to make it 2-1 at 13:55. With the primary assist on the goal, which was scored on the power play, Mike Mottau tallied his 300th AHL point.

The Bulldogs knotted the game at two with a Mike Blunden goal at 13:55 of the third period. Houser made a save on Sven Andrighetto's wrap-around shot, but let up the rebound and Blunder tapped it in. Nearly four minutes later, Hamilton took its first lead of the game as Joel Chouinard's shot was blocked by Houser, but the rebound was left in front of the net and Nick Tarnasky put the puck around Houser's left skate.

With 3:40 left on the clock and the Rampage on the penalty kill, Drew Shore left the puck back for Lee on the break and Lee fired it past Mayer to knot the game at three. It was the Silver and Black's second shorthanded goal in as many games and 10th on the year.

The game appeared to be headed to overtime, but Hamilton put it away late, scoring the game winner with 50.9 seconds left on the clock as Andrighetto fed Greg Pateryn in the slot to seal a 4-3 win for the Bulldogs.

San Antonio outshot the Bulldogs 32-26, and Michael Houser finished with 22-of-26 saves. The Rampage power play continued to roll at home, finishing 1-for-3 on the night, and the Silver and Black held Hamilton at bay on all three of their opportunities with the extra man. The game also marked the 100th pro/AHL game for Garrett Wilson.

The Rampage host the Lake Erie Monsters on Tuesday at 7 p.m. inside the AT&T Center. Individual and season tickets can be purchased by calling a Rampage representative at 210-444-5554 or online at sarampage.com.
