Utah Grizzlies News Release

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS- Solving Patrick DesRochers has been a huge problem for the Grizzles as after Thursday's game in the SBC Center he now has a 3-0 record against Utah allowing just one goal in nine periods while performing back-to-back shutouts. On Thursday it was Greg Jacina's two third period goals providing the offense for DesRoachers who made 24 saves providing the defense in San Antonio's 5-0 victory over the Grizzlies.

The teams played a scoreless first period until the 13:29 mark when Juraj Kolnik threw a pass out in front of the net to Stephen Weiss who re-directed the puck behind David LeNeveu despite having Terry Virtue draped all over him. Kolnik and Gregory Campbell were credited with the assists on Weiss' sixth goal of the season. San Antonio outshot the Grizzlies 14-4 in the period as LeNeveu made 13 saves.

The only goal in the second period came after a questionable hooking call by referee Dave Hansen against Jarrod Skalde. The ensuing power play by San Antonio led to Filip Novak's first goal of the season assisted by Paul Healey and Lukas Kraijcek at the 11:57 mark of the period. Utah outshot the Rampage 9-5 in the period but still trailed 19-13 after two periods on the shot board.

San Antonio padded their lead early in the third period when Greg Jacina scored twice within 36 seconds to put the game away. For Jacina, it was his team-leading sixth and seventh goals of the season. Both of the markers were assisted by Petr Tatichek. Lou Dickenson, just re-called from Texas (ECHL) earlier in the day, scored his first AHL goal late in the third period to make the final score 5-0.

San Antonio outshot the Grizzlies 30-24 in the game as LeNeveu made 25 saves in the losing effort. DesRochers made 24 saves winning for the third time against the Grizzlies this year.

Utah and San Antonio will meet again tomorrow night in the SBC Center. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 PM (mt).
