Bulldogs Dan Ellis to play for Team Canada at 2004 Loto Cup

Hockey Canada has announced that Hamilton Bulldogs goaltender Dan Ellis has been named to Canada's National Men's team roster for the 2004 Loto Cup, to be held in Piestany, Slovakia from December 16-18.

Ellis, a 24-year-old native of Orangeville, Ontario, has appeared in 11 games for the Bulldogs this season, and has earned a record of 1-9-0, a 3.05 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.

During the 2003-04 season, Ellis played in 20 games with the AHL's Utah Grizzlies, and 23 contests for the ECHL's Idaho Steelheads. The 6-0, 185 pound goaltender went on to lead the Steelheads to the ECHL Kelly Cup Championship by earning a record of 13-3, a goals against average of 1.86 and was named playoff MVP. Ellis also played his first NHL game last season for the Dallas Stars, and was victorious by making 25 saves in a 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Kings on February 8, 2004.

Ellis will join Canada's National Men's team on December 12th and will rejoin the Bulldogs on the road in Edmonton on December 19th.

Canada will be entering the 2004 Loto Cup as defending champions having beaten the host Slovakian team last year 4-3, finishing with a 2-0-1 record.

Canada will play three games in the 2004 Loto Cup: Dec. 16 vs. Austria, Dec. 17 vs. Switzerland and Dec. 18 vs. Slovakia, along with a pre-competition game on Dec. 14 vs. Slovakia.

Former Bulldogs Sean Selmser and Kevin Bolibruck will play for Team Canada and join Ellis at the 2004 Loto Cup.
