Pensacola Blue Wahoos News Release
PENSACOLA, Fla. - In a corresponding move to the earlier announcement of Carlos Contreras going to Cincinnati, the Reds have transferred RHP Elvin Ramirez back to Pensacola. He has appeared in 11 games with the Blue Wahoos this season and is 0-1 with a 4.86 ERA. In four games with Triple-A Louisville this season, he has a save and a 1.59 ERA over 5.2 innings.
Ramirez spent part of the 2012 season playing for the New York Mets. He made 20 Major League appearances that year and totaled 22 strikeouts for the Mets. This will be the right-hander's second stint with the Bats this season. He went up in mid-May before returning to Pensacola later in the month.
Ramirez will be available in the Blue Wahoos bullpen for Saturday night's game against the Huntsville Stars. The Blue Wahoos are in the middle of a five-game series with Huntsville. It wraps up Monday before the team travels to Chattanooga for five games.
