Ramirez Grand Prize Propels Rox in Rain-Shortened Win

Mankato, MN - Rain fell throughout the duration of this contest and ultimately caused for stoppage in play. St. Cloud led 6-2 after 6 full innings and earned the victory once the umpires stopped the game. The Rox won their 10th game in their last 12 attempts on Friday night.
St. Cloud's Ricky Ramirez (McNeese State) entered tonight's game with 10 hits in his last 16 at-bats and continued his hot hitting. Ramirez blasted a grand slam over the right field wall as part of a six run 4th inning. St. Cloud posted 7 hits in that frame as well after only 2 hits in the first two innings. This was the second grand slam for the club on the road trip.
RHP Matt Shannon (Angelo State) made his second start for the Rox and lasted 5 innings. Shannon experienced control issues throughout his outing. He threw 8 balls to start the bottom of the first inning and in total walked 5 batters. The two runs Shannon allowed were both unearned.
Drew Freedman and Mason Mamarella (Kent State) aided to the Rox offense with the use of small ball. Freedman registered two bunt singles in the game. Over the last 4 games, Freedman has dropped down 7 bunts this season in 4 games (5 singles, 2 sacrifices). Mamarella also recorded two infield hits in the game.
The Rox are back at Joe Faber Field Saturday night with a game against the Duluth Huskies. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. and the Rox Solid Pregame Warmup starts at 5:35 p.m. RHP Austin Caspersen (St. Cloud State) will start for St. Cloud.
