TACOMA, Wash. -- The Tacoma Rainiers found themselves on the losing end of both games of a doubleheader played against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field on Sunday.

The two games - both scheduled to last seven innings - were played to make up a contest originally slated for Tuesday, July 26 that was postponed due to smoke and ash in the air caused by local forest fires.

In the day's first contest, a three-run inning posted by the Sky Sox in the fifth handed the Rainiers a 9-6 loss. The score was tied at 4-4 until outfielder Charlie Blackmon gave Colorado Springs a one-run edge with a one-out RBI-single. One batter later, Matt McBride added some insurance with a two-run home run.

Tacoma was edged again in the second game, this time falling to Colorado Springs 3-2 on third baseman Brendan Harris' walk-off single in the eighth inning. The outfielders Blackmon and McBride led off the frame with back-to-back singles, and Hernan Iribarren drew an intentional walk to set up Harris' game-winning single in the next at-bat.

The Rainiers combined to collect 16 hits over the two contests, with 10 of those coming in the first half of the doubleheader. Darren Ford, Nick Franklin, Carlos Triunfel, Vinnie Catricala and Luis Jimenez all recorded a pair hits over the two games. Mike Wilson hit a solo home run - his 10th this season - in the second inning of Game 1.

Starter Brian Sweeney (4-3) was dealt a loss after surrendering seven runs on eight hits over 5.0 innings in the first game. The reliever LaFromboise (2-1) was the loser in Game 2, after giving up the game-winning single to Harris in the eighth.

The Rainiers (41-60) play the final leg of the club's four-day, five-game series at Colorado Springs (53-48) tomorrow, July 23. Seattle Mariners top pitching prospect Danny Hultzen (1-1, 3.52) will start for Tacoma against right-hander Alex White (1-4, 4.73) for the Sky Sox. First pitch is scheduled for 11:35 a.m.
