Tucson Padres News Release
The Tucson Padres scored four late runs in their 5-3 win in Sacramento Sunday. The Padres trailed by two in the seventh when Jeremy Hermida hit his first Tucson home run, a solo shot, and Robert Kral hit a two-out RBI single to tie the game. Jesus Merchan's bases loaded walk in the eighth broke the tie and put the T-Pads ahead to stay.
Kral went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI in his first Triple-A game. Hermida continues his hot hitting, collecting two RBIs Sunday after a four RBI game on Saturday. The Padres have won three in a row against first place Sacramento and have taken five of the seven games at Raley Field in 2012.
Tucson starter Bear Bay did not factor in the decision but pitched solidly, allowing three runs in six innings of work. Erik Hamren struck out three in the ninth inning for his sixth save of the season. It was the second time in the last three games the Padres didn't have a baserunner until the fifth inning and still won the game.
Next Game: Monday, 12:05 pm in Sacramento - Tucson RHP Will Scott (0-0, 14.73) vs. Sacramento RHP Dan Straily (3-2, 1.10). Game coverage begins at 11:50 am on Tejano 1600 AM.
Next Home Game: Saturday, July 28 vs. Tacoma at 7:05 pm. Post-game fireworks spectacular and Mexican Pacific League mascot appearances.
