Round Rock Walks off with Win over Omaha

Round Rock, TX - Ryan Spilborghs singled home the game-winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning as Round Rock rallied for an improbable 8-7 comeback victory over Omaha Sunday night in the third of four meetings at the Dell Diamond. The Storm Chasers fell for the first time the series, to 60-42 on the season and for only a third time in 15 games against the Express this season.

Brandon Sisk opened the decisive frame on the hill for Omaha and issued a one-out walk to Luis Hernandez, who stole second base. Spilborghs, who was a central figure in all but one Round Rock run, then laced a base hit the other way to right field that delivered Hernandez with the winning marker. Derek Hankins worked around two walks in the top of the inning to earn the victory.

Jeremy Jeffress inherited a 7-2 lead to start the bottom of the ninth but couldn't get through the inning. A double and two walks loaded the bases with one out before Hernandez struck out. Spilborghs then singled to right field to drive in two runs and another scored when David Lough misplayed the ball, which also allowed Spilborghs to advance to second base. Francisley Bueno took over for Jeffress and promptly gave up the game-tying home run to Brad Nelson, his 16th of the season.

The Storm Chasers took advantage of a miscue to tie the game with two outs in the second when Lough singled to left field, advanced to third base on a throwing error and scored on an Anthony Seratelli base hit. Tony Abreu led off the fourth with a single, stole second and moved to third on a throwing error on the play and scored the go-ahead run when Seratelli doubled. Derrick Robinson followed with a base hit that plated Seratelli to push the visitors lead to 3-1.

Abreu was in the middle of a four-run rally in the fifth as he tripled in a pair and scored when Lough followed with a double to lengthen the Chasers advantage to 6-1. Adam Moore's two-out infield hit chased home Lough and Round Rock starter Greg Reynolds from the hill. The right-hander was charged with seven runs on 10 hits and three walks while he fanned three over 4 2/3 innings.

Storm Chasers starter Doug Davis uncorked a wild pitch that allowed a run to score in the sixth that made it a 7-2 contest but worked his way out of the frame by retiring the last two hitters he faced. The veteran southpaw allowed just one earned run on four hits while walking three and fanning five before giving way to Tommy Hottovy, who followed with two hitless, scoreless innings.
