Reno Aces News Release
LAS VEAGS, Nev.-Jake Elmore singled home Brent Clevlen with two outs in the top of the 11th inning Saturday night, pushing the Reno Aces to a 6-5 victory over the Las Vegas 51s in the second extra-inning affair of the series at Cashman Field.
In the 11th, Clevlen singled and advanced to second on an error with nobody out in the inning. Konrad Schmidt moved Clevlen to third on a sacrifice bunt, and two batters later Elmore chased him home with a clean single to left. In the home half of the frame, Bryan Henry and Joe Paterson combined to retired the side in order to preserve the victory.
The Aces were in control for most of the evening, riding six shutout innings by Patrick Corbin to a 4-0 lead. In the seventh, though, Las Vegas tapped the Reno bullpen for five runs to take its first lead of the game. But Reno wasn't finished, tying the score in the eighth, and going ahead for good in the 11th.
Corbin took a no decision, despite holding the potent Las Vegas offense to just six hits with eight strikeouts and no walks. Henry (2-0) earned the victory, working 1.2 scoreless innings, and Paterson struck out the only batter he faced for the save.
Evan Crawford (1-3) took the loss after he surrendered the eventual game-winner in the 11th.
At the plate for Reno, Clevlen finished with four hits, two runs scored and an RBI. He was one of six Aces batters that registered a multi-hit effort on the evening.
The Aces and 51s will get back at it again on Sunday night at Cashman Field. RHP Trevor Bauer (4-0, 2.82 ERA) toes the slab for Reno, while Las Vegas will counter with RHP Sean O'Sullivan (9-5, 6.49 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and the action can be heard live on Fox Sports 630 AM or by visiting RenoAces.com.
Reno will return home on Tuesday, July 24. Tickets are on-sale now at RenoAces.com, by calling (775) 334-7000 or by visiting the Aces Ballpark Ticket Office.
