Tacoma Rainiers News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - Ty Kelly's 4-for-4 performance headlined the Tacoma Rainiers 6-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees at Spring Mobile Ballpark on Sunday. The victory earned the Rainiers a series split in the final game of their four-game series at the Bees.

Tacoma broke open a 3-3 tie with a three-run frame in the top of the ninth inning. Outfielder Abraham Almonte drove in the go-ahead run after hitting into a ground out that plated infielder Carlos Triunfel with two outs. Kelly and outfielder Stefen Romero added insurance runs with an RBI single and an RBI double.

Kelly collected hits in each of his four plate appearances on Sunday. The second baseman has turned in multi-hit outings in each of his last four games, and is batting .733 (11x15) with three doubles, one home run and six RBI since July 4.

Starter Taijuan Walker limited Salt Lake to one run on six hits over five innings of work in his third career Triple-A start. The right-hander struck out four and issued one walk.

Right-hander Hector Noesi took over for Walker following an hour-long rain delay in the sixth inning. The reliever earned the win after limiting the Bees to three runs on five hits over 4.0 innings, while walking two and striking out two.

At 53-38, Tacoma boasts the best record in the Pacific Coast League and holds a four-game lead over Salt Lake and Colorado Springs in the Pacific Northern Division.

The Rainiers now head to Tucson to open a three-game series against the Padres beginning at 7:05 p.m. tomorrow, July 8. Left-hander James Paxton (5-6, 5.14) is slated to start for Tacoma in the first game of the series against Tucson's right-hander Matt Andriese (1-0, 1.50).
