Reno Aces News Release
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.-The Aces tangled the score at six in the eighth inning on Sunday afternoon, but a disappointing 7-6 walk-off loss to the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Security Service Field pushed Reno to their 11th series loss of the season.
The Sky Sox touched up Reno starter Nate Adcock for six runs across the first four innings of the game, including a three-run first frame. The Aces posted a pair of runs in the second and fifth, before tying things up in the eighth off a two-RBI double by Alfredo Marte.
Reliever Eury De La Rosa struggled in the bottom of the ninth, walking the first batter he faced. With only one out, he allowed a single and another walk to load the bases. An RBI single off the bat of Tim Wheeler plated Charlie Blackmon to secure a 7-6 walk-off win for Colorado Springs.
Short stop Chris Owings, who leads all of professional baseball in hits, recorded his first three-hit game since June 16, going 3-for-5 with a run scored. Alfredo Marte and Juan Rivera also recorded multi-hit games.
De La Rosa was charged with his fourth loss of the season, giving up one run on two hits and walking two in 0.1 inning.
The Aces now travel to Fresno for a three-game series against the Grizzlies at Chukchansi Park. RHP Mike Bolsinger (3-2, 4.15 ERA) will get the nod for Reno, while the Grizzlies will counter with RHP Yusmeiro Petit (2-4, 6.42 ERA). First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. PT, and all of the action can be heard live on KPLY 630 AM.
