Tacoma scored three unearned runs in the top of the ninth inning to break a 3-3 tie, as the Rainiers held on for a 6-4 win over the Salt Lake Bees on Sunday afternoon. Carlos Triunfel opened the ninth by reaching on an error by second baseman Tommy Field. Brandon Bantz walked and they were bunted over by Leury Bonilla. Field made a lunging stop of a grounder by Abraham Almonte, but was only able to get the out at first with Triunfel scoring the go ahead run. The Rainiers would add two more runs before the Bees picked up a run in the bottom of the ninth on an RBI single by Kole Calhoun, but the game ended as Efren Navarro grounded into a double play.

"Today was unfortunate, playing against a team that is ahead of us in the standings, and then for our starter to go out that quickly, then the next guy goes out too and the rain delay kind of took another pitcher away from us," said Bees Manager Keith Johnson. "But it's one of those things. We were in position to win that game and we didn't execute and we didn't win."

Josh Judy (0-1) took the loss, as he was charged with the three unearned runs in the ninth. Luis Rodriguez led the Bees with two hits, a double and triple, and two runs batted in. Luke Carlin added two hits and one RBI, while Andrew Romine and Chris Nelson chipped in with two hits each.
