Salt Lake Bees News Release

Three Salt Lake pitchers combined to throw a six-hit shutout, as the Bees blanked the Tacoma Rainiers 5-0 on Saturday night. Dustin Richardson (2-0), in just his second start, went six innings and allowed just four hits with three strikeouts and no walks to earn the victory. Ryan Brasier followed with two scoreless innings and Daniel Stange kept Tacoma off the scoreboard in the ninth for Salt Lake's third shutout of the season.

The game was scoreless with two out in the bottom of the sixth when Rainiers' starter Brandon Maurer walked three straight batters to load the bases. Chris Nelson followed with a flare that fell in to shallow centerfield for a two-run single. The Bees would add three more runs in the seventh on a RBI double by John Hester and a run-scoring triple by Matt Long, who would later come in on a wild pitch. Nelson led the Bees with three hits and two RBI in a game that started two hours late due to rain.
