MEMPHIS, Tenn. - The Tacoma Rainiers (29-32) dropped a 6-0 decision in the series finale against the Memphis Redbirds (37-24) on Thursday night at AutoZone Park.

First baseman Daniel Vogelbach (1x3, BB), right fielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis (1x3), and catcher Garrett Kennedy (1x2, BB) picked up the Rainiers only three base hits of the evening, all singles. Tacoma drew six walks and stranded nine runners on base. It was just the second time this season that the Rainiers have been shut out.

Memphis pulled out in front with one run in the bottom of the fourth and tacked on two more in the bottom of the fifth to extend their lead to 3-0.

The Rainiers brought the tying run to the plate in the top of the eighth inning, but failed to capitalize. Memphis brought in three insurance runs in the bottom of the frame to put the game away and forge the final score of 6-0.

Tacoma starter Lindsey Caughel, making his second straight start for the Rainiers, worked three scoreless innings to open the contest. He allowed just one hit and walked one on 40 pitches (26 strikes).

Ashton Goudeau (2.0 IP) and Ryan Garton (2.0 IP) both allowed three runs on 11 combined hits out of the Rainiers bullpen. Darin Gillies contributed two innings of scoreless, hitless relief while walking two and striking out three.

The Rainiers road trip continues tomorrow as Tacoma kicks off a four-game series against the Nashville Sounds at 5:05 p.m. PT. Right-hander Ross Detwiler (0-0, 0.00) will start for Tacoma opposite Nashville right-hander Chris Bassitt (2-3, 6.10).
