Fresno Grizzlies News Release
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox (31-26) defeated the Fresno Grizzlies (35-24) 6-1 Wednesday night from Chukchansi Park. For the second straight game, the Grizzlies received an outstanding performance from their starter. Brock Dykxhoorn hurled a season-high seven innings en route to a no-decision. He allowed one run (earned), on three hits while fanning six. In three Triple-A starts, he has tossed 17 innings, striking out a batter per frame and walking only a pair.
AJ Reed catapulted the Grizzlies to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second when he launched a solo shot to center field. It was his team-leading 11th homer of the season and 60th in a Fresno uniform.
Colorado Springs knotted the game at one in the top of the third when Dylan Moore tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Sky Sox took a 5-1 lead in the top of the eighth. Kyle Wren belted a three-run blast to right field. It was his second wallop this season. Then, an error plated the fourth run of the frame. Wren expanded the advantage to 6-1 in the top of the ninth with his second sacrifice fly. This pushed his RBI total to five on the night.
A 6-1 deficit was too big of a hole to climb out of for the Grizzlies, falling to 24-17 in night games.
Bubba Derby (3-3) earned the win after four shutout innings of relief. He punched out four in the process. James Hoyt (0-3) suffered the loss after a rough eighth.
Garrett Stubbs (3-for-3) reached base in all four of his plate appearances.
Both teams finish the series Thursday night from Chukchansi Park. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 PT. Fresno RHP Cy Sneed (5-2, 3.55) and Colorado Springs RHP Corbin Burnes (2-3, 4.97) are the probable starters.
