TACOMA, Wash. - A.J. Zapp had two home runs and three RBIs and the Tacoma Rainiers overcame two different four-run deficits in a 7-6 victory over the Portland Beavers Thursday night at Cheney Stadium.

Zapp's two home runs-a two-run home run in the bottom of the second and a solo shot in the seventh-accounted for two Tacoma's four home runs on the night, a season-high allowed by Portland pitching.

Zapp's solo homer broke a 6-6 tie and gave the Rainiers (44-33) the lead for good.

The Beavers (39-42) had leads of 4-0 and 6-2, but allowed five unanswered runs from the third inning on.

Randy Williams (4-1) earned the win pitching 2.0 innings of relief allowing no runs on one hit. George Sherrill worked the ninth for his 11th save.

Tacoma tied it up in the sixth when Luis Ugueto led the inning off with a triple and was driven in with a sacrifice fly by Ramon Santiago.

The Beavers manufactured four runs in the top of the second. J.J. Furmaniak had a two-run single with two outs and Jose Nieves laced a two-run double for a 4-0 lead.
