SALEM, VA - The Pelicans' series finale with the Salem Red Sox was postponed at Salem Memorial Ballpark Wednesday night.
This was the final scheduled meeting between the two teams in Salem for the 2009 season. The game will be made up as part of doubleheader at BB&T Coastal Field on Tuesday, August 11. First pitch for the twinbill is scheduled for 6:05.
Myrtle Beach and Salem are currently separated by only a half-game in the second half Southern Division standings. With first-half champion Winston-Salem leading the division, the second place team remains in contention for a playoff berth by league rules.
The Pelicans will open a four-game series with the Lynchburg Hillcats at BB&T Coastal Field Thursday night. The Pelicans will send Wednesday night's scheduled starter, Erik Cordier, to the mound against Lynchburg right-hander Matt McSwain. It will be Thirsty Thursday with one dollar Bud and Bud Light drafts from 5:30 until 7:30 with fireworks following the game. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
