(Kannapolis, NC- July 3, 2015)- The West Virginia Power lost 3-0 to the Kannapolis Intimidators in a rain-shortened game Friday night at Intimidators Stadium. The Power and Intimidators split the four-game series with West Virginia winning the middle two after falling in the first and final games of the set.

Kannapolis plated a run against West Virginia starter Alex McRae in the first inning. Ryan Leonards walked and later scored on a sacrifice fly by Nick Basto. The Intimidators added two runs on a pair of doubles and a sac fly in the fourth inning for a 3-0 lead.

West Virginia was shut down over the first six innings by Luis Martinez. The right-hander allowed two hits, hit one batter and struck out two. Martinez retired the first ten consecutive batters he faced until a Jordan Luplow single in the fourth.

In the bottom of the seventh, rain began to fall play was halted. The game was not resumed due to unplayable grounds.

McRae (4-5) took the loss after allowing the three runs on three hitters over five innings while Martinez (3-7) earned the win. Jose Brito pitched a scoreless top half of the seventh for his first save of the season.

West Virginia hosts Delmarva on Saturday to open a four-game homestand. Gates at Appalachian Power Park open at 6:00 pm with a first pitch at 7:05. After the final out, fans will enjoy and extended, holiday-themed, fireworks show.
