I's turn off Power in rain-shortened finale

KANNAPOLIS, N.C. (July 3, 2015)- Luis Martinez tossed 6.0 innings to pitch Kannapolis to a 3-0 rain-shortened win Friday night in front of 3,752 fans at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System.

Martinez earned the win (3-7), allowing no runs, two hits while striking out two.

Kannapolis took a 1-0 lead in the first off Power' starter Alex McRae. Ryan Leonards walked, and Mason Robbins singled to begin the frame. After a fielder's choice advanced Leonards to third, Nick Basto knocked home Leonards on a sacrifice fly to right-center field.

In the fourth, Kannapolis extended its lead to 3-0. Louie Lechich doubled and scored on a Nick Basto double. Basto later scored on a sacrifice fly by Michael Danner.

Alex McRae was charged with the loss (4-5), working 5.0 innings, allowing three runs on three hits while walking one and striking out three.

Jose Brito worked a perfect seventh inning before the game was called in the bottom of the seventh.

The Intimidators begin a nine-game road trip starting with a four-game set at Augusta on Saturday. Saturday is the Intimidators annual All-American Celebration at Intimidators Stadium supported by Carolinas HealthCare System.
