
Rain Cancels Jumbo Shrimp and Blue Wahoos Saturday

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Rain and inclement weather canceled Saturday's doubleheader between the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp and Pensacola Blue Wahoos at the Baseball Grounds of Jacksonville. Although the teams played until the top of the fifth inning with Jacksonville leading Pensacola, 3-2, the game was not official, and statistics will not count in season totals. The games will not be made up. Regular individual tickets for Thursday's game may be exchanged at the box office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining regular season home game.
Saturday marked the fifth scheduled date - fourth at home - the Jumbo Shrimp did not play a game due to rain. Tickets from the following rain-impacted dates may be exchanged at the box office for a ticket of equal or lesser value to any remaining regular season home game:

On Saturday, Jacksonville (22-31) took a first-inning lead against Pensacola right-hander Wyatt Strahan. Second baseman Isan Diaz and right fielder John Norwood hit consecutive two-out singles before first baseman Eric Jagielo hit a three-run home run to left field. Jacksonville right-hander Robert Dugger held the 3-0 lead until the third inning, when Strahan hit a leadoff single and went to second base on Norwood's error in right field. Center fielder C.J. McElroy hit an RBI double to left field and beat a throw to third base on a fielder's choice. He scored when right fielder Aristides Aquino grounded into a fielder's choice. In the fifth inning, McElroy and left fielder Nick Longhi hit consecutive singles, and Dugger hit Aquino with a one-out pitch to load the bases. Umpires halted the game with the bases loaded and shortstop Luis Gonzalez at bat.
UP NEXT: The Jumbo Shrimp open a series in Birmingham at 7 p.m. Sunday. The Jumbo Shrimp return home for a 10-game homestand beginning Friday, June 8, against the Biloxi Shuckers. Fans may visit any participating NAPA AutoCare Center to get a FREE general admission ticket (reserved seat upgrade available at the box office) for the game that concludes with NAPA AutoCare Family Fireworks. The Jumbo Shrimp wear red "Bold City" jerseys to support the military on Red Shirt Friday, when fans who wear red can save $1 per ticket at the box office or donate the $1 to the Intrepid Fallen Heroes Fund. Friday Night Lites Miller Lite Happy Hour offers $1 12-oz. Miller Lite and $1 off craft beer specials in the Craft Cave by the third-base gates until 7:30 p.m. The game is presented by 99.9 Gator Country.
