Railroaders Win Second Consecutive Series

WINNIPEG, Manitoba - Mike Gulino extended his hitting streak to six games and had the go-ahead RBI single in the 9th inning, and the Railroaders held on for a 12-7 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Shaw Park on Wednesday night.

Gulino's RBI single came as part of Cleburne's five-run 9th inning after the Railroaders blew a 7-0 lead after the 4th inning. The Goldeyes committed three errors in the frame, and just one of the five runs scored against Victor Capellan was earned.

Trevor Sealey went 3-for-6, including his two-run homer as part of Cleburne's six-run 4th inning, and now sits just two games short of Levi Scott's season-best 14-game streak.

Patrick Palmeiro went 2-for-5 with an RBI and three runs scored, while Rafael Palmeiro drove in two runs and finished with four RBI in the series.

Cleburne jumped out to the quick lead in the 2nd before sending 10 men to the plate in the six-run 4th inning. Gulino drove in a run with a single and Angel Rosa doubled in two more before Sealey's homer.

The Goldeyes answered immediately in the bottom of the 4th. Josh McAdams led off the frame with a double, and Tucker Nathans doubled him in before Josh Mazzola clubbed a two-run shot to make it 7-3.

The Goldeyes added another run on Mazzola's sacrifice fly in the 6th inning, and after Josh Romanski's RBI triple in the 7th, Reggie Abercrombie tied the game with a two-run shot.

Cleburne starter Jared Mortensen went 6.1 innings and gave up six runs on nine hits with one walk and four strikeouts.

Alex Polston singled to extend his hitting streak to nine games, and all nine Cleburne starters finished with a hit whule six of the nine finished with an RBI.

The Railroaders pegged Winnipeg starter J.C. Sulbaran for seven runs - two earned - over 3.2 innings, and the bullpen had pitched 4.1 scoreless innings before Capellan surrendered five runs.

Cleburne went 4-2 on the roadtrip and has won consecutive series for the first time since taking the first two series from Winnipeg and Fargo-Moorhead to open the season.
