Railroaders Walk off Saints

Cleburne Railroaders News Release

CLEBURNE, Texas - K.C. Huth singled up the middle and scored Blake-Grant Parks in the 11th inning, and the Cleburne Railroaders walked off the St. Paul Saints 3-2 on Saturday night.

Huth singled after Blake Grant-Parks reached on a strikeout-wild pitch to begin the frame and moved into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt. The walk-off was Cleburne's second this year.

After Jared Mortensen threw eight innings and gave up just one run with a season-high 10 strikeouts, Cortland Cox allowed a two-out double from Richard Prigatano and a single from Dante Bichette Jr. to tie the game in the ninth. It was the second consecutive start in which Mortensen gave up a run over eight innings and did not earn the win.

The Saints opened the scoring in the 1st when Josh Allen hit a leadoff homer on the second pitch of the game.

Levi Scott tied the game with his second homer of the year in the second, and then Alex Polston scored on a wild pitch to give Cleburne a lead in the fifth inning.

Shawn Blackwell earned his first win of 2018 with a scoreless 11th inning.

Grant-Parks went 2-for-4 with a double and the game-winning run, while Cam Monger reached on a single and a walk and Trevor Sealey extended his hitting streak to a season-best three games to go along with the successful sacrifice bunt that put Grant-Parks at second in the 11th.

Saints starter Ryan Zimmerman, making his professional debut, yielded one earned run on three hits over five innings.

The Railroaders wrap up the three-game set with the Saints on Sunday. First pitch time is set for 2:05 p.m., and LHP Michael Gunn will pitch against RHP Matt Solter. Good seats are still available and can be purchased at www.railroaderbaseball.com or by calling (817) 945-8705.
