MOOSIC, Pa. - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders fell to the Gwinnett Stripers 7-4 on Sunday afternoon at PNC Field.
Zack Zehner put the RailRiders on the board with a solo shot deep over the left-field wall in the bottom of the second inning. The Stripers responded in the third as Phil Gosselin led off with a double. Lane Adams and Jonathan Morales both singled which plated Gosselin and tied the game at one. Danny Santana then hit a three-run home run to give Gwinnett a 4-1 lead.
The Stripers added to their total in the fourth as Alex Jackson led off with a walk. Gosselin singled and Morales snagged a base hit of his own to plate Jackson. In the sixth Gosselin hit a two-run home run to put Gwinnett ahead 7-1.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre scored in the sixth as Wilkin Castillo singled and L.J. Mazzilli homered to give the RailRiders two more runs. Rey Navarro smacked a solo shot of his own in the ninth, but it was not enough as the RailRiders fell 7-4.
Mazzilli had a great day at the plate for the RailRiders going two-for-three with a home run and two RBIs. J.P Feyereisen pitched well in relief throwing one and two-thirds innings without allowing a run while giving up only a single hit and striking out two.
Scranton/Wilkes-Barre will travel to Rochester tomorrow where they will complete a suspended game and then play another seven-inning matchup. First pitch of game one is scheduled for 5:05 p.m. RHP Chance Adams (3-4, 4.89) heads to the mound for SWB. The RedWings starter is TBA.
