Lehigh Valley IronPigs News Release
(Allentown, Pa) - The Scranton/Wilkes-Barre RailRiders (70-60) defeated the Lehigh Valley IronPigs (60-68) 11-4 on Friday night at Coca-Cola Park.
The IronPigs took a 3-0 lead against Adonis Rosa (6-0) in the bottom of the first inning with two outs. Andrew Romine doubled then scored on a two-run home run by Deivy Grullon. Nick Hundley followed with a solo home run - his first as an IronPig.
The RailRiders jumped ahead 4-3 against Ramon Rosso (2-3) in the top of the third inning. Ryan McBroom hit a sacrifice fly and Breyvic Valera hit a go-ahead three-run home run. The RailRiders added another run in the top of the fourth inning to take a 5-3 lead as Trey Amburgey scored on a fielder's choice.
Rosso left the game after four innings before the bullpen took over the rest of the way. Kyle Dohy pitched two innings and allowed a run in the top of the sixth inning as Mandy Alvarez hit an RBI single. The RailRiders added two more runs against JD Hammer in the top of the seventh inning to take an 8-3 lead.
Ali Castillo hit an RBI single against Ben Heller in the bottom of the seventh inning to make it a 8-4 game. Josh Tols was tagged for three runs in the top of the eighth inning as the IronPigs would trail 11-4.
Andrew Romine pitched a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
The IronPigs and RailRiders play again on Saturday evening at Coca-Cola Park. First pitch is scheduled for 6:35 p.m.
