North Carolina FC News Release
CARY, NC (January 16, 2014) - The North American Soccer League has announced its 2014 Fall Season schedule. The announcement completes the 2014 NASL Regular Season schedule, consisting of the Spring and Fall Season. The Spring Season is a 9 game "sprint to the finish line" that concludes just prior to the 2014 FIFA World Cup. In the Fall Season, the RailHawks will play an 18-game schedule that will consist of a home-and-home series with each NASL club.
"The completion of the regular season schedule is always an exciting time," said RailHawks head coach Colin Clarke. "It will be critical to continue our success at home and extend our 16-match home unbeaten streak. Our fans, season ticket holders, corporate and community partners are going to be the key drivers that help us bring a Championship to the Triangle."
The Spring Season will begin with an away game in Indianapolis against expansion franchise, Indy Eleven, on April 12th. In addition to this being Indy Elevens home and season opener, it will also be the first regular season game in their history. A sold out Michael A. Carroll Stadium awaits both teams and most certainly a new rivalry will be born. The remainder of the Spring Season schedule includes (home games listed in bold): Fort Lauderdale Strikers (4/19), at Ottawa (4/26), New York Cosmos (5/3), at San Antonio (5/10), Atlanta Silverbacks (5/17), at Minnesota (5/24), Tampa Bay Rowdies (5/31), and at Edmonton (6/8).
Fresh off the excitement of the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, the RailHawks will open the Fall Season when they host Indy Eleven on Saturday, July 12th. Remaining matches for the Fall Season include (home games listed in bold): at Minnesota (7/19), at San Antonio (7/23), Ottawa Fury (7/26), at New York (8/2), Tampa Bay Rowdies (8/9), FC Edmonton (8/16), at Tampa Bay (8/23), Atlanta Silverbacks (8/30), at Ottawa (9/6), San Antonio Scorpions (9/13), New York Cosmos (9/20), at Indy (9/27), at Fort Lauderdale (10/4), at Edmonton (10/11), Fort Lauderdale Strikers (10/18), at Atlanta (10/25), and Minnesota United (11/1).
Clarke continued, "The support we receive from our fans at home is second to none. Whether it's the non-stop passion and excitement coming from the 309 Depot or the Rail-Hawks chant across the stadium, WakeMed Soccer Park has become a place that visiting teams do not want to play."
