San Antonio Scorpions News Release

San Antonio, TX (January 16, 2014) The San Antonio Scorpions have re-signed Gambia native Sainey Touray, President Howard Cornfield and Head Coach Alen Marcina confirmed today.

The 6'1" forward joined San Antonio during the Scorpions' 2013 fall campaign, where he played in four matches for 299 minutes and scored one goal, after coming off of a brilliant season with the United Soccer League's Harrisburg City Islanders. During his three seasons with the Islanders, Touray rang up 58 points with 28 goals and 16 assists. He finished his 2013 USL campaign by being named to the league's USL Best XI all-league first team.

"Sainey possesses raw speed, creativity on the ball, and tremendous upside with a great attitude and work ethic on and off the field," Marcina said of Tournay.

Touray, who will be 24 in February, was born in Serrekunda, Gambia and has played professionally with the New York Red Bull of Major League Soccer and with the NASL's Carolina RailHawks. Before his career in the United States, Touray played for his home country of Gambia with both the Gambian U-17 and U-20 teams. He was the Golden Boot winner in the U-17 Ivorian Four-National Football Tournament.

"Sainey was a great find by Alen last season," Cornifield remarked today. "He is an exciting young player with tremendous upside and is on the radar for several MLS teams. We expect to see great things from him this season".

Sainey Touray looks to join a solid and ever-growing Scorpions' roster that already includes past Best XI players.... Walter Restrepo, Jonathan Fana, Danny Barrera, Shaun Saiko and returning players Tomasz Zahorski, Stephen DeRoux, Greg Janicki, and Jeremy Vuolo.

Touray will begin preparations for training camp, which starts February 9.
