Strikers Fall 2014 Schedule Announced

Fort Lauderdale, FL. (January 16, 2014) - The Fort Lauderdale Strikers will open the 2014 Fall Season at home against Minnesota United FC on July 12, 2014. The Strikers will play their rivals, New York Cosmos and Tampa Bay Rowdies, back to back early in the season at Lockhart Stadium. They'll face the Cosmos on Saturday, July 26th and the Rowdies the following Saturday August 2nd. All games at historic Lockhart Stadium are scheduled to take place at 7:30 p.m.
The 10 teams competing to earn a berth at NASL Soccer Bowl 2014 will kick off the 2014 Fall Season following a mid-season break for the World Cup tournament, which concludes the same weekend.
"We're excited about the prospect of capitalizing on the attention and exposure that this summer's World Cup will bring to the sport of soccer during our Fall campaign," said Strikers President Tom Mulroy. "Having all of our home games on weekend dates will provide us with an opportunity to maximize sales and once again provide outstanding game day experiences for our loyal fans."
The Strikers will face each opponent once at home and once away during an 18-game balanced schedule Each team in the league will play one midweek game as soccer under Wednesday night lights comes to the NASL; the Strikers' Wednesday match will take place at Indianapolis on August 6th.
2014 marks the second consecutive year that the NASL has implemented a split season format with the Spring Season winner earning the right to host Soccer Bowl and take on the Fall Season winner.
