New York Cosmos News Release
NEW YORK (Jan. 16, 2014) - The New York Cosmos and Tribeca Travel Sports (TTS) today announced a partnership that will see the Cosmos Training & Development Program (TDP) work with the downtown Manhattan-based Soccer Stars organization to help train the member teams.
"We are thrilled to announce our new partnership with the New York Cosmos Training & Development Program," CBS Radio personality and Tribeca Travel Sports President Craig Carton said. "As everyone knows, the Cosmos team and brand is the most recognizable American soccer organization in history. Having been a big fan of Pel̮̩"ÃŽ, Giorgio Chinaglia, Werner Roth, Franz Beckenbauer and of course Shep Messing, and a camper at the Pel̮̩ summer camp at Manhattanville College, I could not be more excited to be able to offer their world-class instructors to the TTS Soccer Stars family. Just like our partnership with John Franco in our baseball program, we strive to offer our community the very best."
The Cosmos TDP focuses on player development by providing a unique soccer program based on the Cosmos' club philosophy. Keeping consistent with scientific research and U.S. Soccer's Best Practices, the program has formulated dynamic programs that cater to the specific developmental needs of players, coaches, clubs and communities. The Cosmos TDP programs were created to assist youth soccer organizations in developing their players, at all levels. Additionally, they have the ability to help those organizations find the right resources and environment to succeed in doing so.
"We are very excited to be working with Craig and Tribeca Travel Sports Soccer Stars as a new Youth Development Partner within our program," Cosmos Director of Youth Development Fabian Banchiero said. "Our new relationship with the TTS soccer program reflects our commitment to the further development of youth soccer players in our New York community. We want to provide the New York Cosmos experience to all young players wishing to learn and grow with the beautiful game."
As part of the agreement, the Cosmos coaching staff will run practices, tryouts and conduct clinics for TTS Soccer Stars. This year, TTS Soccer Stars will field teams in the U-9, U-10, U-11 and U-12 age brackets and will be playing in the NY Club Soccer League. Tribeca's home fields are Brooklyn Bridge Park, Pier 40 and Battery Park.
The Tribeca Travel Sports youth teams will also have the opportunity to play on the same field as the Cosmos before one of the club's home games this year at Hofstra University's Shuart Stadium.
Open tryouts for all age groups will be announced shortly. For more information please visit www.tribecatravelsports.com .
