RailCats Sign Joe Neal

GARY – The Gary SouthShore RailCats (Northern League) have signed catcher Joe Neal, the club announced today.

Neal, 22, completed his collegiate baseball career this year at Wayne State (Mich.) University. The 5-10 catcher, who was twice named WSU's Defensive Player of the Year, batted .282 in 2004 with two home runs and 24 RBIs. Neal was also named to the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference All-Tournament and All-Academic teams his senior season.

The RailCats and Winnipeg will play two seven-inning games tonight on Dollar Night at U. S. Steel Yard (6 p.m. first pitch – first 1,000 fans receive a voucher for a $1 Armour hot dog; $1 soft drinks and popcorn for all fans). The game will also be broadcast on the RailCats Radio Network, including WEFM 95.9, WJOB 1230 AM, and www.sportsjuice.com, beginning at 5: 45p.m.opopspanfontp

Tomorrow night, August 19, the RailCats will welcome the Famous Chicken to U. S. Steel Yard for the first time, when the RailCats and Winnipeg conclude a three-game series at 7 p.m.
