Winnipeg, Manitoba - Zac Mitchell went 3-for-4 and drove in five runs as the RailCats (28-19) broke it open late defeating Winnipeg (24-22), 11-6.

The game was a one-run deficit for the majority of the ball game with the RailCats holding leads of 2-1, 3-2, and 6-5 before scoring five times in the eighth.

In the eighth, the RailCats took advantage of some poor defense behind reliever Brandon Lafferty. Christian Vitters led off the inning with a walk, then Brian Kolb, attempting to bunt him to second, reached on a throwing error by the catcher Jordan Guida. Drew Martinez then came to the plate and bunted his way on, to load the bases.

Zac Mitchell followed with a base hit through the middle to score a pair and make it 8-5 RailCats. Then on a pitch in the dirt, Drew Martinez attempted to take third and the catcher Jordan Guida committed his second error of the inning allowing Martinez to score.

Later with runners on first and second, Mike Massaro lifted a double to left-center to score Zac Mitchell. After a pitching change, Cristian Guerrero drove in the fifth run of the inning with a groundout to short.

The recently-acquired Ray Sadler hit a long solo home run in the bottom of the first to score the game's first run; a 1-0 lead for Winnipeg. It was Sadler's first homer since his acquisition from Kansas City on July 2.

In the top of the second, the RailCats utilized a pair of bunts and just one hit to the outfield to score two runs. With runners on first and second and nobody out, Drew Martinez bunted the runners into scoring position. Zac Mitchell ripped a solid single to right field to score Christian Vitters.

Danny Pulfer followed with a sac bunt on the first base line that allowed Brian Kolb to score to take the lead 2-1.

In the bottom of the inning, Winnipeg took advantage of a two-on one-out situation. Jordan Guida hit a bouncing ball off home plate that allowed Ryan Scoma to score from third and tie the game at two after two innings.

The RailCats scored in the third consecutive half inning of the game in the top of the third. With two out, Ryan Babineau singled to right and stole second base. Christian Vitters then rolled a base hit through the middle to take the lead for the RailCats, 3-2.

After a two-out single in the fourth, Winnipeg pulled starter Ryan Sasaki. Sasaki allowed three runs on four hits and walked four. He threw 66 pitches, 32 strikes. He suffered his fourth loss of the season.

In the sixth inning, the RailCats padded their lead with three runs. With one out in the inning, Christian Vitters and Brian Kolb both singled. Drew Martinez followed with a double down the right-field line to score Vitters.

With runners on second and third, Zac Mitchell dropped a broken bat single into left to score Kolb and Martinez to give the RailCats a 6-2 lead.

Winnipeg wasted no time getting back into the ball game in the bottom of the sixth inning. Casey Hearther led off the inning with a double. After a fly out, Fehlandt Lentini dropped a double of his own down the right-field line to score Hearther. Lentini then stole third and scored on Ryan Scoma's ground out to make it 6-4.

Luis Alen batted next and pounded a solo homer to left ending the day for the RailCats starter Billy Spottiswood.

Spottiswood allowed five runs on seven hits and two walks in five and two thirds innings. He picked up his second win as a RailCat.
