Sioux City Explorers News Release

Fargo, ND - The Sioux City Explorers had a short-lived 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning, but Fargo-Moorhead tied the game in the bottom of the first and went on to win the first game of the series 8-2.

The Explorers had plenty of chances early, leaving six runners on base in the first three inning, including stranding the bases loaded in the second.

Fargo-Moorhead took the lead 4-1 when they score three runs in the third inning off losing pitcher Preston Olson as the Explorers committed two errors on the same play in that inning.

The Explorers added a run in the fourth to cut the lead to 4-2, but could not get any closer. The RedHawks put the game away when they scored four runs in the fifth inning on four hits to make the lead and the final score 8-2.

The Explorers had seven hits with five of those hits coming in the first three inning, but had only two hits in the final six innings.

The second game of the four-game series with Fargo-Moorhead will be Sunday afternoon at Newman Outdoor Field. Game time will be 1:00.
