Tulsa Oilers News Release
Tulsa - The Rocky Mountain Rage gave-up a league season-low 13 shots on goal as four different goal scorers helped goaltender Terry Dunbar shutout the Tulsa Oilers, 4-0, at the Tulsa Convention Center.
The Rage achieved a team first during the opening period by not allowing the Oilers a single shot on goal. Conversely, Rocky Mountain generated 13 shots at the other end of the ice. Simon Watson's slapshot from between the circles at 2:39 was the only effort that got behind Tulsa netminder Kevin St. Pierre, though, and the Rage led 1-0 through 20 minutes.
Defenseman Tyler Butler added to Rocky Mountain's lead early in the second period when he rang a one-timer off the post and in at 3:09 while the club skated on a five-on-three power play. The Rage took the 2-0 edge to the third period having out-shot Tulsa, 25-4.
Daymen Rycroft gave Rocky Mountain at bit more breathing room at 13:37 of the final frame before Scott Wray scored just prior to the final buzzer for the 4-0 final.
The Rage are now 11-1-1 with 23 points and extended the league's longest current winning streak to six straight games. They remain in first place in the Northwest Division, seven points ahead of the second-place Colorado Eagles.
The team concludes a three-game road trip tomorrow when they face the Texas Brahmas in suburban Dallas. Fans can catch the play-by-play action on The New ESPN Radio 1600 on a tape delayed basis beginning at approximately 8:00 p.m. MST.
