Rafters Wrap up Four Game Road Trip
June 16, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Mequon, Wis- The Rafters have one inning to complete this evening before they start the second game of this two game series against the Chinooks. The Rafters did not officially take sole possession of 2nd place in the Northwoods League South Division with an 11-7 win over Lakeshore on Monday night. The game has been suspended and will have the ninth inning completed this evening. In last night's game Wisconsin Rapids took an 8-0 lead with a six run fifth inning and never looked back. Mitchell McGeein (Eastern Michigan) blasted his fourth home-run of the summer in that inning and really got the offense going. Back-to-Back RBI doubles from Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) and Sam Tolleson (Central Florida) in the eighth inning provided some much needed insurance runs for the visiting team.
Brian Russell (College of Staten Island) was the starter for Wisconsin Rapids last night and is in line to pick up his first win of the summer for the Rafters. Russell threw a stellar six innings, allowing only three hits and one earned run in his fourth outing this summer. Brian Bass (Faulkner University) came in to get the final out of the eigth inning, which was the only batter that he faced so far.
Pitching matchups are still undecided for this evening, but there will be a full nine inning game following the completion of the first one.
The Rafters return home to Historic Witter Field Wednesday to take on the first place Kenosha Kingfish. Tickets are still available, call 715-424-5400.
