Green Bay, Wis.- After last night's seven inning, 3-0 shutout win, it was hard not to look down at the Woodchucks' side of the scorecard and see one letter, "K." Whether it was forwards, or backwards, Garrett Harrison (St. Cloud State) flashed 11 strikeouts on the scoreboard, and always kept hitters out of sorts.

He was throwing sliders in fastball counts, fastballs in slider counts, and rarely let batters edge an early advantage. After he allowed two hits in the first inning, the Woodchucks never really had any type of a formidable rally point thereafter.

This was one of those games where everyone knew it was implausible that the hitters would stage any kind of a late push. A game that was over after the first Bullfrogs run crossed home plate.

"I felt like I could throw all four of my pitches," said Harrison of his complete game. "I was able to spot up and do what I wanted."

With second-year Bullfrog, Franco Guardascione (Jacksonville), behind home plate Harrison never feels in doubt with his battery mate calling pitches. But last night, Harrison was in a weird spot, he was not always in agreement with Guardascione.

"[Franco Guardascione's] quote was, "you must be seeing something I'm not," because I kept shaking and whenever I would shake it was something they were not ready for," said Harrison. "I was feeling a little different today."

Harrison was in a zone. And he was in a pitcher's trance from the third-through-fifth innings, with six strikeouts, a spot he talked about after the game.

"I started breaking out my slider. I had only been throwing fastballs and changeups [until] then," said Harrison. "[The slider] was getting a lot of swings and misses so then the K's just started coming."

In his outing against Madison last week, Harrison battled through five innings on two runs in Madison. Frequently trapped in hitter's counts, it was his toughest outing amid a two-day stretch in which he was circling the MLB Amateur Draft ticker for his name.

Although it was never called, his time could come in 2016. And if any scout continues to watch Harrison they will see a pitcher with forthright command, leadership, and a sense of responsibility at the top of the staff for his third season in a Bullfrogs' uniform.

A great deal of Harrison's success might also come from his winning pedigree. His St. Cloud State Huskies won 54 games, and lost only five. Harrison went 9-0 with a 2.13 ERA in 76.0 IP.

With the Bullfrogs in 2015, Harrison is 1-1 with a 1.64 ERA in 27 1/3 IP. He leads the Northwoods League with 31 strikeouts, has only walked six, and has logged three starts of seven innings or more.
