Rafters Start Final Series with Kenosha Tonight
July 14, 2018 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - Following a walk-off loss to Green Bay, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters (20-25, 5-5 2nd half) visit the Kenosha Kingfish (21-23, 8-2 2nd half) for the final two games of the season series. Kenosha is currently in sole possession of first place in the South Division's 2nd half following their win over Battle Creek and Lakeshore's game at Madison getting suspended due to rain. The Rafters are only three games back of first place in the South Division.
Last night, Wisconsin scored first with a solo home run from Brody Wofford (UCF) in the first and an RBI double from Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) in the third. Green Bay then scored four times on five hits to take a two-run lead 4-2. The cranberry and gold came back in the ninth. Ty Duvall (Vanderbilt) delivered the big two-run base hit to tie it up at four. The Bullfrogs walked it off a half inning later with a home run to right from Matthew Acosta.
Starting tonight for Wisconsin Rapids is Tyler Giovinco (2-0, 4.00 ERA). Giovinco was supposed to start last night but his start was pushed back a day with the inclement weather causing the game to start almost an hour late. The junior from Army West Point has two wins in as many starts with nine total innings pitched.
Kenosha will send one of their All-Stars to the mound in Trent Palmer (1-0, 1.35 ERA). Palmer is making his third start and eighth total appearance. In 20 innings pitched, the Jacksonville freshman has a save, 25 strikeouts, eight walks, and has allowed four runs on 21 hits.
First pitch from Kenosha is 6:05 pm CT.
