Madison Mallards News Release

Madison, Wis. - After completing only an inning and half before heavy rain suspended their game against the Lakeshore Chinooks, the Madison Mallards (1-6, 29-14) are back in action tonight. First pitch is set for 6:05 PM against the Wisconsin Woodchucks (7-3, 19-27) and gates will open at 4:30 PM. Thegame features post-game fireworks presented by Hy-Vee and Wisconsin State Fair Night.

The Mallards built a 1-0 lead before heavy rain moved into the area during the second inning last night. Their matchup with the Lakeshore Chinooks was postponed to next Tuesday when they will take on the Chinooks to finish last night's game and also play the regularly scheduled contest. For more info, reference the official rainout release on mallardsbaseball.com.

On Thursday night, the Mallards took down the Chinooks in a 10-5 victory. The Mallards collected 13 hits and did not commit a single error, playing one of their cleanest games of the season. Madison will look to continue that trend tonight against the Woodchucks and earn their third win of the second half.

The Mallards plan to start 2018 Northwoods League All-Star Dalton Wiggins (Marietta). Wiggins is 4-1 this summer through six starts and holds an impressive 1.63 ERA. Wiggins has tossed 33.0 innings and has allowed only 20 hits while issuing just six free passes. Overall, Wiggins owns a .79 WHIP, the best mark of any Mallards starter.
