Green Bay Rockers News Release
Mequon, WI. - The visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs (15-32, 3-8) were unable to recover from a huge early deficit, falling to the host Lakeshore Chinooks (24-21, 8-2) by a score of 12-1 at Kapco Park Saturday evening. The Bullfrogs fall to 3-2 against the Chinooks this season.
The Lakeshore bats were cooking early in the first inning, starting with a two-run single from Jim Govern followed by back-to-back RBI singles from DJ Lee and Cole Turney to put the Chinooks up 4-0. Dallas Beaver's two-run double in the second inning extended the lead to 6-0 with Beaver also scoring on a wild pitch to make it 7-0.
Green Bay scratched across its lone run of the game on a RBI double by Alejandro Gonzalez (Freshman, Hillsborough CC) scoring Eddy Gonzalez (Junior, Incarnate Word) to cut the deficit down to 7-1.
Lakeshore added a pair of insurance runs in the sixth inning with Jack Dunn scoring on an error and a RBI double from Govern to stretch the margin to 9-1. The Chinooks plated three more runs in the seventh on a RBI double, single and wild pitch to stretch the lead to a commanding 11-run margin.
Blaise Maris (Sophomore, Florida Tech) extended his hit streak out to six games, finishing 1-for-4. Cooper Morrison (Sophomore, UC Davis) and Eddy Gonzalez also both finished 1-for-4 with one double each. Alejandro Gonzalez was 1-for-2 with a run driven in.
Lakeshore starting pitcher Austin Jones earned the win, improving to 3-3. Green Bay starter Jake Zatopek (Freshman, Incarnate Word) took the loss, falling to 0-5. Chinooks reliever Marko Boricich earned his first save of the season.
