Northwoods Wisconsin Rapids Rafters

Rafters Roll for 2nd Straight WIn

June 27, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release

Madison, Wis- The Rafters received another outstanding pitching performance as Jack Riley (UConn) carved the Mallards for seven scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory this evening at the Duck Pond. The lefty from West Boylston, Massachusetts was in control for almost the entire evening in Madison. He pitched efficiently and to contact, allowing his defense to stay involved in the game and make plays behind him for the win.

Nate Hoffman (Middle Tennessee State) was impressive as well, going five innings and allowing only one run, but he was out dueled by Riley and took the loss tonight. Ryan Cleveland (Georgia Southern) had an RBI single in the 2nd inning that gave the Rafters the lead. The Rafters added another run as Michael McCann, who was two for two on the game reached on a lead-off walk, and was replaced by pinch runner Nate Easley ( San Joaquin Delta CC). Easley proceeded to score on a passed ball for the second run of the game, and helped secure the win for Wisconsin Rapids.

Wisconsin Rapids will be in Madison tomorrow for their final road game of June. The Rafters then return home for a day-night doubleheader against the Eau Claire Express to conclude the first half of the Northwoods League 2015 season. Tickets are available for all remaining Rafters home games, call 715-424-5400 or go to www.raftersbaseball.com.
