Rafters Look to Wrap up Season on a High Note

Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin - After record-setting days to start the month of August, the Rafters will wrap up the 2015 season with one final home game against the Green Bay Bullfrogs at Witter Field on Sunday, August 9.

The Rafters had the largest crowd in franchise history on Thursday, August 6, followed by setting a new team record for wins in a single-season on Saturday, August 8.

Last night, the Rafters got their team-record 32nd win with a 6-4 victory over the Bullfrogs. Wisconsin Rapids had to withstand a three-run ninth inning from Green Bay, but held on to win thanks to a comfortable five-run lead heading into the final inning. Dmitry Shtykher (Russia) earned the win for Wisconsin Rapids, while Clayton Uselman (Madison College) took the loss for Green Bay. Justin Kelly (UC Santa Barbara) earned the one-out save for the Rafters.

The Northwoods League announced the 2015 Postseason All-Star Team and award winners today and left-handed pitcher Jack Riley (UConn) was the Rafters representative on the team.

Riley is the likely starter on the mound for Wisconsin Rapids tonight, heading into his final start of the season at 5-1 with a 2.51 ERA. He has been one of the Rafters most consistent starting pitchers this season, holding opponents to a .241 batting average over 53.2 innings. The West Boylston, Massachusetts native currently sits with the best ERA on the team among starters and is second in wins. The lefty was a Northwoods League All-Star and pitched in the Major League Dreams Showcase at Warner Park in Madison, Wisconsin, earning the win in the second game of the showcase.

First pitch for tonight will be at 5:05 p.m. with gates opening at 4:05 p.m. It's Founding Partners Fan Appreciation Day at the ballpark with great giveaways all night long.
