Bullfrogs Look to Bolster Playoff Seed in Season Finale
August 9, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Green Bay Rockers News Release
Green Bay, Wis.- The Green Bay Bullfrogs head into the final day of the regular season with several different scenarios that will determine their seed in the 2015 Northwoods League playoffs.
The playoffs begin on Aug. 10, and Green Bay could fall anywhere from the second seed to the fourth seed in the South Division.
The Kenosha Kingfish won the first and second halves of the South, so they will host one of the divisional playoff games on Monday. The other South playoff game will be played in Green Bay or Madison.
The Mallards are one game ahead, but the Bullfrogs own the tiebreaker since they lead the season series 5-3. Green Bay would host Game 1 of the playoffs if they beat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters and Madison loses to the La Crosse Loggers. In this scenario, the Bullfrogs would earn the No. 2 seed and host the Mallards in the playoffs.
If both Green Bay and Madison wins, the Bullfrogs would travel as the third seed to play the Mallards on the road to begin the playoffs. If Green Bay loses and La Crosse beats Madison, the Bullfrogs would have the last spot in the South Division playoffs and travel to Kenosha to face the top-seeded Kingfish.
Green Bay was defeated by Wisconsin Rapids 6-4 on the road on Saturday night and look to split the series tonight.
The Bullfrogs will turn to Parker Hamilton, who has a 2-3 record and a 4.57 earned run average in eight starts and 10 appearances this summer.
The final game of the regular season will begin at 5:05 p.m. from Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids.
