Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.- In the final game of the regular season schedule, the Bullfrogs (41-30) fell to the Rafters (33-35) by a score of 8-7. The Rafters scored five runs in the eighth inning to come away with the victory.

Still playoff bound, the Bullfrogs take on the Madison Mallards tomorrow for a 7:05PM first pitch. Ryan Radue (RHP/UConn) will make the start. He won a NWL championship with the Lakeshore Chinooks in 2014 and has been one of the best Green Bay starters all season.

The Bullfrogs carry in a 5-3 record against the Mallards to the single-game elimination contest. The Bullfrogs are 2-2 against the Mallards at Warner Park this campaign.

In tonight's affair, everything started the right way for Green Bay. Danny Rosenbaum (Louisville), who finished the day 2-for-4 with two runs, collected an RBI single in the first against South Division All-Star, Jack Riley (LHP/UConn).

Wisconsin Rapids responded with two runs in the first against Green Bay starter, Parker Hamilton (RHP/Florida Gulf Coast), his first start since July 24th. Brock Carpenter (Seattle) bashed his first hit of the series, an RBI double. And Mitch McGeein (Eastern Michigan) gave the Rafters the lead with a sac-fly.

The Bullfrogs emphatically claimed the lead in the third inning with four runs. Brian Celsi (California) creamed an RBI double and Robb Paller (Columbia) scored next on a wild pitch.

Paul Jacobson (South Dakota State) kept the inning going with a hit that scored Celsi, and Ray Greco (UW-Stevens Point) continued his great series with a bases loaded walk to grace Green Bay with a 5-3 lead.

Skip Handelsman's Bullfrogs continued to mount an offensive ascension when Mason George (Texas- San Antonio) led off the sixth with a double, and was plated by Robb Paller's sac fly. Paller gained his 34th RBI of the season, second on the team.

In the seventh, Caleb Ratzman's (Illinois State) groundout to first base was good enough to score Danny Rosenbaum from third to give Green Bay their seventh run.

Leading 7-3, Matt McCarthy (LHP/Penn State) struck out the first batter of the eighth inning and then allowed back-to-back singles to Zach Domingues (Long Beach State) and Ernie Clement (Virginia), as he was removed in favor of Chad Dullnig (RHP/Ranger College).

What then happened was one of the most bizarre plays all season long. With runners on second and third, a ground ball was hit to Ray Greco at third. He tossed home as Mason George caught Domingues in a rundown.

Without a tag applied, Domingues got back to third safely, as Clement, who was inches away from Domingues at third, darted back to second without a throw, as the batter Carpenter advanced to first. No outs were recorded in what could have been a double play or at least an out of Domingues in between third and home plate.

The Rafters capitalized. With the bases loaded, Sam Tolleson (UCF) walked in the first run scored of the frame. Mitch McGeein's second sac-fly of the game kept the scoring going. And a Max Widmar (Parkland) RBI double, a throwing error into left field, along with a Dullnig balk, lifted the Rafters to three more runs and an 8-7 lead.

Down to their final three outs, the Bullfrogs were shut down by Justin Kelly (LHP/UC Santa Barbara) and the Bullfrogs dropped the decision in the late innings.

The win went to Austin Paisar (1-0) (Sacramento City College), the loss to Chad Dullnig (2-2), and the save to Justin Kelly (SV 2).
