Bombers Season Ends in Rainout

August 9, 2015 - Northwoods League (Northwoods)
Battle Creek Battle Jacks News Release

Wausau, Wis. - The Battle Creek Bombers came eight innings from completing their 72-game schedule, but Mother Nature intervened and ended Battle Creek's season in game 72's second inning.

With the wet weather threatening in the first frame, both teams committed an error, but neither side could capitalize. Min Hsia (Taiwan) did not allow a hit or a walk in his one inning of work.

As it began to drizzle in the top of the second inning, Matt Simmons (Gardner-Webb) and Blake Swann (Florida Southern) reached on walks. The first pitch to Brennon Lund (BYU) slipped out of the pitcher's hand and went high into the backstop. The umpires convened and stopped play. About an hour later, the umpires called the game, ending the Battle Creek Bombers and Wisconsin Woodchucks seasons early.

The Bombers end their season with a 27-44 overall record and wrap up the season seventh in the Northwoods League South Division Standings.
